Genealogical Question 6&7

 I was born in Logan Utah on April 7, 1946. My home was in Paradise Utah.

I was baptized when I was 8, so in 1954 probably in May in Hyrum Utah.  I think my brother John baptized me. I was baptized a member of the church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints

 

Big Bill was born in Reno Nevada on June 17, 1942,  He was living in Carson City NV.

Bill was baptized in Tooele Utah when he and his Mom were making a rare visit to her family there. He was baptized when he was 10 into the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints.

Genealogical Question 3&4

 I was called "Mary" by my Paradise community.  That went into high school as well.  In later years I went from Mary to Rosemary to Rosi.  Currently my ward family calls me Rosemary or Rosi.  Twila Bird has called me Rose. I think she is the only person to do that.  

Bill says that through public schools he was called Bill.  (He said he wouldn't let people call him anything else.)  When we met some folks began calling him Wilvan. Most folks currently know him as Bill.  Rosi called him Big Bill to her students while teaching at MVHS.  She still frequently introduces him as Big Bill. (This is curious as he is no longer all that big, but he is still my Big Bill).

Genealogical Question 1&2

 1. Rosemary Dunn Olsen Mathews

   Dunn is my Mother's maiden name.

   Olsen is my Maiden name

   Mathews is my married name.

As a girl, our family did not have a lot of books.  However, after my Mom died, I became a bit more interested in reading.  As I looked through our books, I was fascinated to find a book titled Rosemary.  Later I was told that my name had come from that book title.  It occurs to me now, that Rosemary also contains my mother's first name...  Mary Alyce Dunn.  I am sure that made the name Rosemary become even more desirable, as It was my Mother's name.

Today it seems that the name "Mary" is not in vogue.  Popular or not, I still love that name.  Christ's mother's name was Mary.  She provides a wonderful role model for any young girl.

1. Wilvan Woodrow Mathews

    Wilvan is a "Made up" name that Bill's Mom, Lorraine, gave him.  Bill's Grandpas' names were William and Van.  She created Wilvan from these two Grandfathers.  I have never seen that name used anywhere else.  Woodrow is Bill's father's name.  They called him "Woody" for short. His full name is Woodrow George Mathews.  Woody's biological name was Levi Williams.  The Mathews adopted him as a baby and renamed him Woodrow George Mathews soon afterwards.
